Better Zap is a service at dash.better-zap.com that lets a business connect its WhatsApp Business number and work with its conversations from a browser. The product is your WhatsApp data, synced and displayed — so this policy is mostly about that data: what we store, where it lives, and how you remove it.
The short version
- We store your account details and, once you connect a number, your WhatsApp contacts and messages. That is the product working as described, not a side effect.
- Each connected number gets its own isolated database. Your workspace is never mixed with anyone else's.
- We do not sell your data, show ads, or use your messages for anything except showing them to you.
- Disconnecting your number deletes its workspace. You can export everything first and move to a self-hosted deployment — the service is designed so that leaving is easy.
What we collect
Account information. Your name and email address, and a password if you sign up with one (stored only as a hash). If you sign in with Facebook, we receive your name and email address from Facebook; we never see your Facebook password.
WhatsApp business data. When you connect your WhatsApp Business number through Meta's official signup flow, Meta syncs your business's WhatsApp data to us so we can show it in your inbox:
- your WhatsApp contacts (names and phone numbers), kept up to date as they change on your phone;
- your one-to-one message history from up to 180 days before you connected (group chats are not synced);
- new messages in both directions while the number stays connected, including messages you send from your phone, along with delivery statuses and media such as images.
Connection credentials. Meta issues access tokens that authorize us to operate your number on your behalf. We store them as secrets and use them only to run your connection.
Service records. We record the events Meta sends us about your number (message webhooks, sync progress, account status) and keep message-delivery logs. This is how the inbox stays reliable and how we can tell you when something is wrong.
We do not run advertising trackers on the dashboard, and we do not collect data unrelated to running the service.
Where your data comes from
Directly from you (account details, messages you send from the dashboard), and from Meta's WhatsApp Business Platform once you connect your number — Meta is the source of your synced contacts, message history, and ongoing message traffic.
How we use it
To provide the service: showing your inbox, sending your replies, keeping contacts in sync, reporting connection health, and troubleshooting problems. We also use account details to communicate with you about the service (for example, email verification) and to meet legal obligations. That is the whole list. We do not sell personal data, share it with advertisers, or use your messages to train machine-learning models.
We don't read your conversations. Staff access to workspace data is limited to what is needed to operate the service — for example, investigating a failure you report — or to comply with a legal obligation.
Your customers' data
The people who message your business appear in your synced data: their phone numbers, names as saved in your contacts, and the contents of their conversations with you. We process that data only on your behalf, to show it to you — you remain responsible for handling your customer conversations lawfully. If one of your customers asks about their data, the conversation belongs to your workspace: deleting your workspace deletes it, and we will act on your instructions about it.
Where it lives
Better Zap runs on Cloudflare's infrastructure (Workers and D1 databases). Each connected number gets its own isolated database, with the same open schema as a self-hosted deployment of the open-source better-zap SDK. We rely on two service providers to run the product:
- Meta — the WhatsApp Business Platform itself; your messages necessarily pass through Meta, subject to Meta's own terms and privacy policy;
- Cloudflare — hosting, storage, and transactional email, such as address-verification messages.
How long we keep it
For as long as your number stays connected — the inbox is only useful with its history. When you disconnect a number, we delete its workspace database, including all synced contacts and messages. When you delete your account, we remove your account records and any operational records tied to you within 30 days, except where the law requires us to keep something longer.
Deleting your data
There are three ways, described in detail on our data deletion page:
- disconnect your number from the dashboard, which deletes its entire workspace;
- remove Better Zap from your Facebook account's Apps and Websites settings, which sends us a deletion request — you receive a confirmation code and a link to a status page;
- email contato@better-zap.com from your account's address.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, data-protection laws such as the LGPD or GDPR give you rights to access, correct, export, and delete your personal data. The export and deletion mechanisms above are how we honor them; for anything they don't cover, email us and we will sort it out.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, access tokens are stored as platform secrets, and every workspace is isolated in its own database. No system is perfectly secure, but isolation means a problem in one workspace does not expose another.
Children
Better Zap is built for businesses and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18 as an account holder.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will note the new date at the top and tell account holders by email. Questions go to contato@better-zap.com.
